Did you know that continually ‘resisting’ your favourite naughty snack actually reduces your capacity to resist it!
Did you know that cognitive ‘brain’ training can counteract seven to fourteen years of age-related cognitive decline!
Did you know that the human brain experiences social pain (embarrassment, loss of social status, uncertainty or unfairness) using the same brain circuitry as physical pain? From a mental perspective, it is just as debilitating and distracting to be embarrassed as it is to break your leg!
This is about BRAIN FITNESS…
We tend to think of brain fitness as brain training, but it’s much more than that. Brain fitness is your ability to grow and adapt your brain to cope with your changing environment.
To be brain fit you need to work on your cognitive fitness. This is the brain training bit – processing speed, the density of your cortex and hence processing power, and your memory and the like.
You must also consider your emotional fitness. This is your ability to self-regulate your emotional reactions and responses (they are two different things), and your subsequent behaviour.
Finally, you need to work on your executive fitness. This is your ability to consciously learn and grow your brain to enhance your experience in the world – this is where neuroplasticity lives.
When you work on ALL THREE you will start to see three distinctive states arise…
When you develop emotional and cognitive fitness – you develop brain CAPACITY.
When you develop emotional and executive fitness – you develop MOTIVATION.
And when you develop cognitive and executive fitness – you develop ADAPTABILITY.
And when you have brain capacity, motivation and adaptability, you have three critical keys to surviving our busy, fast-paced world! You can UNLOCH your brain’s true potential!
I’d love you to join us on our free webinar this evening if you are interested in learning more – and tonight we will deep dive into the area of HABITS and the brain! You can sign up here.
